Name Etymology
Ifrit, efreet, efrite, ifreet, afreet, afrite and afrit (Arabic: ʻIfrīt: عفريت, pl ʻAfārīt: عفاريت) are supernatural creatures in some Middle Eastern stories.

Traditionally, Arab philologists trace the derivation of the word to عفر (ʻafara, "to rub with dust").[citation needed] Some Western philologists, such as Johann Jakob Hess and Karl Vollers, attribute it to Middle Persian afritan which corresponds to Modern Persian آفريدن‬ (to create).

Efreet is the Spirit of the Great Flame. He sleeps northwest of small village that Kossel ministers to. This village is attacked by a Great Dragon summoned by the Velzerian wizard, Nagya and there is little the Baldean army can do to harm it.

So Ledin traveled north to a stone where the djinn is said to slumber and after forcing Nagya to retreat and spoke these ancient words: "He who burns red as the sun! Oh great spirit of flame! I ask that you lend us your strength!" Efreet is thus summoned.

Upon waking the flame spirit asked who awoke him and finding that Ledin is a descendant of Elthlead agreed to help against the dragon.
